The Elevator Pitch

“The Team Members of Crossroadswow.com deliver WOW to online customers 24/7, 364 days a year(closed Christmas Day). We double the amount of business generated on our clients’ websites by simply making a warm, friendly and personal invitation to help customers find information about a product or service while they’re shopping on a website. We do this from all over the US, serving people all over the world, from dozens of websites, we are the best at WOW, and we never hear their voice or see their face; we do it through a chat box.”

I just had to describe what we do at Crossroads in three sentences to someone who has never heard about us.  This is called the Elevator Pitch.  The idea is that you’re stuck in an elevator with someone who can supercharge your business: a new client, a huge celebrity, [insert important role here].

 

 

If you’ve ever had to talk about what you do and you’re really passionate about it, three sentences is a death sentence.  Any mildly motivated homo sapien can hyper-summarize something, but to pack the breadth, depth, passion into three sentences to get the attention of a passerby is tough.

 

“Hey we chat on websites” is about as brief as I could make it but that just doesn’t say it.  And if that was sufficient then we’d better shut it down or get real comfortable with mediocrity.
